When life kicks in
I already was a bit carefully in my previous post about the release date of the HAL CAL 2020, and it turned out I needed it! I need to delay the release date with one week. The reason for this is that my eldest daughter became quite sick. When I wrote my previous post on January 18 it looked she had a ‘simple’ virus, but it turned out to be a bit severe and she did become more sick during the period after that. We took good care of her the last week and a half, but for me that also meant taking care of her cats and her home, because my husband is allergic for cats. And this took lots of time. I am happy she is starting to recover, and she will recover completely, but it will take a couple of months before she will be healed completely. And we were already busy with other stuff. Life is turned upside down then for a while, especially because of the concerns of my daughters health.
Preparations
This means the preparations for the HAL CAL 2020 suffered hugely: I didn’t have time to create the files with the crochet instructions. We did have time yesterday to record the videos for the tutorials for mosaic crochet, and I’m almost finished with editing the Dutch video! With this there will also be a tutorial for the websites, and I will start with that when I’ve finished editing the English video. In between all things I was able to crochet, so that I can now calculate (better) how much yarn is needed for the mosaic crochet blanket and what the sizes will be. I already made a rough estimation, but I wanted to be sure. I will publish this later.
The plans now are that I will make the tutorials for the websites and the instruction files this week. These last ones will of course be released during the CAL 🙂 . Crocheting has now a bit less priority, because I came far enough, and that can be done further easily in between my other activities.
New release date and modified(!) schedule
The new start date is now set at thursday February 13! And another little change I made is about in how many parts I will release this: it is going to be 9 parts instead of 6! I realized during crocheting it was really much per week, and then so many people will fall behind, that it will be less fun for those who have a bit less time. It will still be quite some part you will get to do, but this way it will be manageable better.
I hope you’re not disappointed very much, and that you will understand my situation. Watch the website for the tutorial if you are planning to do mosaic crochet!
I’m so glad your daughter is doing better. Family is always first in my life. Hope all continues to go well with everyone. I’m definitely not upset. I get into crochet so much, I’m in the process of learning graphgans now. See you soon. Take care.
Thank you for your kind words!
Take as long as you need! I’m glad your daughter is getting better.

Wow! i would love it in shades of blue.
So glad that your daughter is on the mend. We do so much appreciate you giving us this CAL and completely understand that you have a life outside of it. Thanks for the update.

Sorry to hear this about your daughter but glad that she is on the mend now. Hopeful she has a full recovery. Family comes first always so take whatever time you need. Fully understand and not upset what so ever.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, We will wait xx
Take your time with your daughter. I’ll gladly wait. I took care of my dad with Alzheimers. I’m not on Facebook nor live where they have the yarn listed so I’m wondering if there’s a yarn kit available online? Thanks, in advance
No reason for you to feel bad, family’s always first, especially when it’s about health! I hope your daughter feels better and will fully recover soon.
Beautiful pattern! My schedule is rather full but I’ll try to squeeze a blanket in 🙂
