Welcome to my crochet course! I am creating a series of tutorials for learning to crochet. This is an ongoing project that I will be adding to. The start of this was February 2025. So come back regularly for new additions! Do you want to receive automatic updates when something new is available? Then it is best to subscribe to my YouTube channel and turn on the bell, the version where you automatically receive all updates from YouTube, so you don’t miss anything.

Each tutorial includes one or more videos showing how to make stitches or other necessary information, such as changing yarn and finishing your ends. I also intend making a tutorial with photos and text from time to time (if time permits). You can also find the pictures of the stitches and the corresponding pattern drawings here.

Handy playlists

Of course, you can continue to look at the lessons I have made on this page, but I have also made handy playlists on YouTube. With the extended videos that delve deeply into the subject matter, but also with just the shorts. The shorts are also included in the list of the extended videos. I have also split these lists for right- and left-handed people. Use the buttons below to quickly go to the playlists!

General information and downloads

For crocheting, abbreviations and/or pattern drawings are often used. On this page you will find overviews that you can view as a reference and download if you want.

Overview of the lessons

Here’s an overview of what I’ve made so far. Click on the links to go to the content pages or the video!

Lesson 1: The very first step: making a slip knot and the chain stitch

In this part you will get a short introduction to what you need to crochet, and how to make your very first crochet stitch: the chain stitch.

I will also show you how to make a slip knot.

There is an extensive video for right-handed people and a video for left-handed people, and there are matching shorts.

Lesson 2: Making single crochets

In this part you will get an extensive explanation about crocheting single crochet and everything that goes with it, so take a look at the course page for the topics I cover, because you might see something that you, as an experienced crocheter, don’t know (exactly) yet.

There are also shorts available to quickly show you the technique. Both for left and right handers.

Lesson 3: Getting nice straight edges with single crochets

This is actually a continuation of lesson 2 on crocheting single crochet, where we worked in the ‘traditional’ way. Here we adapt the technique a little bit to get nice straight side edges without bulges.

There is an extended video for right-handers and a video for left-handers, and there are accompanying shorts.

Lesson 4: Changing yarns and finishing yarn ends

In this part you will get a quick explanation of how to change yarn, for example when you have reached the end of your ball. And I show you how to neatly tie off your ends. This is a single video that is for right-handed people, but is also easy to understand for left-handed people.

Subjects:

  • change yarn at the side
  • change yarn in the middle of the row
  • fasten off yarn
  • what NOT to do (!)

Lesson 5: 3 ways to work into the foundation chain

Here I show you the different ways to work in the foundation chain and what the differences are.

Lesson 6: Double crochet

In this part you will get an extensive explanation about crocheting double crochet and everything that goes with it, so take a look at the course page for the topics I cover, because you might see something that you, as an experienced crocheter, don’t know (exactly) yet.

There are also shorts available to quickly show you the technique. Both for left and right handers.

Things that are on my to do list that will be here soon as well (high priority):

  • increases and decreases
  • Better edges for double crochet

There will be a lot more course material coming! So check back often for new material!
