Pattern description

Foundation: | Make a foundation chain with the desired number of stitches of your choice minus 1 |
Row 1: | Ch 3 (counts as first dc of row) and make next dc in 4th st from hook. Continue row with remaining dc’s until desired number of sts is reached. |
Row 2: | Ch 3 (counts as first dc of row) and make next dc into top of 2nd st of previous row. Continue row with remaining dc until desired number of sts is reached. |
Row 3 and further: | Repeat row 2. |

A nicer closed straight edge
The turning chains and possibly the last stitch of a row can be replaced by alternative stitches. For this I refer to the course page where I will have a video for the alternatives.
Colors
In the variation below, the color has been changed after 1 row of double crochets. So in rows 2, 3, 4, 5 etc. It is funny to see that the stitches made in the even rows (back) seem longer than the stitches of the odd rows (front). Compare the look of the rows in the same color of the piece below.
Tip: use an odd number of colours, so you can carry the colours up the edges without having to cut the yarn.
